More Economic Good News

With 215,000 new jobs created in November and 4.5 million in the past 30 consecutive months, Sen. Bennett discusses economic good news with Sen. Majority Leader Bill Frist and Assistant Majority Leader Mitch McConnell.

“I agree with the Wall Street Journal. This recovery is the Rodney Dangerfield recovery: It don't get no respect. But if you look at the economic activity over the last couple of years, it is, on average, better than the average of the 1990s. And you remember how everybody talked about the 1990s as the economic nirvana. And we are doing better now then we were then.”

Now, are those 4.5 million jobs created $5.25 an hour, working at 3 McDonalds to make ends meet; or are they "real jobs" where people can bring home the bacon (excluding McDonalds fried bacon)? I would say McDonalds…

Complete bullshit, I agree. Are we as a country that dim that we believe this crap? I would take a guess that 3% of the population vote for these clowns because they benefit financially by doing so, 27% vote based on their morals, and the other 24% because they are clueless as to who these criminals are really looking out for.

let's see, 17,000 new jobs in september, 44,000 new jobs in october, and 215,000 new jobs in november. sounds like an upward trend to me. so mcd must be hiring an awful lot of people. so let's see where mcd hired for november. 11,000 are factory jobs, 30,000 construction, 36,000 education and health services, 13,000 financial activities, 21,000 government, 50,000 goods-producing industries, 29,000 professional & business services, 29,000 trade, transportation, and utilities, and your mcdonalds jobs/retail, a whopping 8,500 new jobs. and just for kicks, unemployment is at 5 percent, compared to the four-year low of 4.9 percent. and i can't vouch for any other members, but i can tell you that senator bennett is one of the few that actually do care about the citizens of his state.

Join the real world......There is more reliable information on the economy then what a senator from "Utah" says. -Note the parenthesis around Utah. And, because Bennett is one of the few members that actually cares about the citizens has nothing to do with job growth. Lastly, lets don’t make a lot of conclusions about the economy. I would contribute the high growth in November to seasonal part time jobs...which happens every year. But hey, at least you’re optimistic.

this reliable information that i noted was not from the senator, but from the economic research division of the st. louis federal reserve bank. however, senator bennett does have a clue what he is talking about since he is the vice chairman of the congressional joint economic committee. not sure what you are implying about the parenthesis remark. please clarify. my comments about the senator and his constituents do stray from the original topic of job growth, only because i was responding to jjb's remarks on voting patters, which also have nothing to do with job growth. at least jjb didn't make it clear what connection there was. and i made no conclusions at all in respect to the economy. all i referred to in my comments was about job growth. i realize that these numbers are only a fraction of the overall economy. the current economic outlook isn't perfect, however there are a number of positive things that we should look at. if you want to see some big picture economic indicators, take a look at gdp growth. as far as your "seasonal job" theory, i'm sure that is true to some respect, however i would think that most of those jobs are usually picked up in the month of december. that theory also doesn't explain the low unemployment rate. and i'm optimistic because i have no one giving me reasons to not be as far as the economy goes.

I would like to see the other side of the coin, the one that shows the # of US citizens laid of during this time (and while we are at it their average salary) vs the starting pay of all these new jobs..just for good measure, let's see how many of these new jobs are being filled by those from South of the border..(y'know the ones who want the jobs other Americans won't do according to GW) My guess is a ton of these "construction" jobs go to them at just over min. wage. (Look at the footage of Katrina cleanup crews for example..living in makeshift tents bused in from the other side of the border.
I wasn't trying to diss Bennett specifically, just the lip service so many of these tools continue to dish out on the general public.
I'm also surprised by the goods-producing stat, we are certain these are indeed jobs in America and not jobs created by American companies in other parts of the world? (I doubt it, but it's worth questioning.
That's all, again no disrespect to your boss-I'm sure he does look out for Utah citizens..they're republicans.

you make some good points. like i said, it's not all perfect. you have to expect a certain level of disproportionate levels within the system. welcome to capitalism. as far as your question goes, those numbers are u.s. workers, not for u.s. companies who outsource. and the republican remark at the end is irrelevant. of course he looks out for them because they voted him in. and it happens to be that the majority of voters in utah are republican. so what? but i know of at least one democrat who's vote also went to his reelection last year.

Wow, this all sounds like shit I would say..... GDP is rising... but here is the thing. GDP has been rising for the last 5 years even with us being in a recession. GDP does not indicate economic growth, it indicates economic spending.. which is completely different. The US has been spending money like its nobody's business the last few years, which is why we have such a deficit. So has our economy grown... no.
As far as employment is concerned, numbers have increased. Look at the US's immigration over the last few years... and look at natural born citizen numbers in comparison to employment. I guarantee that citizens have lost more jobs than they have gained, and have taken jobs less profitable than ones they had five years ago.
Think your getting brainwashed buddy by your senator. But you're not the type to get brainwashed about anything....... are you? =)
